Microsoft Office’s Outlook app automatically sorts your emails into a ‘focused’ inbox and an ‘other’ inbox. All IT support companies tend to help clients with this function, as some people find this helpful as it places the seemingly most important emails into this inbox, then anything else into the other inbox. However, this can be risky as emails can get lost or sorted as lower priority than you would like. Some people find this feature unhelpful and prefer to organise their inbox without assistance. Find out how to turn it off with this useful guide.
Outlook For Windows
- Go to Outlook
- Select the view tab
- Click on ‘Show Focused Inbox’. This should make the ‘Focused’ and ‘Other’ tabs disappear from the top of the mailbox
Outlook For Web
- Select settings
- Click on display settings
- Go to ‘Focused Inbox’
- Under the section subtitled ‘when email is received’, select the ‘Don’t sort messages’ option
- Click ‘Ok’
Outlook For Mac
- Under the ‘Organise’ tab, select ‘Focused Inbox’
- Once you click on this, the ‘Focused’ and ‘Other’ mailbox should disappear, leaving you with just one inbox
Outlook For Mobile
- Click on the menu button at the top of the screen
- Choose the settings button
- Turn the slider to ‘Off’
